PF Lyceum Seminar: What is Parapsychology?

Sunday, May 7th, 2006, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 P.M.

The PF Lyceum Seminar: What is Parapsychology? presents an overview of parapsychology in four sections: (1) such basic phenomena as extrasensory perception and psychokinesis; (2) the scientific study of psychic phenomena from the 1880s to today; (3) spontaneous ESP experiences; and (4) testing ESP in the laboratory and in the field. Each section will include an open question-and-answer period.

Advance reservation is required as seating is limited.

Carlos S. Alvarado, PhD,, Chairman of Domestic and International Programs, the series editor of the Foundation’s Parapsychological Monographs and the Associate Editor of the International Journal of Parapsychology, is a two-time Past President of the Parapsychological Association. He has had over twenty years of experience conducting research in Puerto Rico, Scotland and in the United States on the out-of-body and near-death experiences, on the psychology of individuals who report psychic experiences, and on the histories of parapsychology, psychology, and psychical research.

Nancy L. Zingrone, PhD, the Foundation’s Director of Publications and the Executive Editor of the International Journal of Parapsychology, is also a two-time Past President of the Parapsychological Association. She has also had over twenty years of research experience. Her interests include the psychological characteristics of individuals who report psychic experiences and/or who are successful at laboratory tests of psychic ability, and the controversy over the scientific status of parapsychology.

Doors will open at 1:30 p.m. at the Eileen J. Garrett Research Library at 308 Front Street in Greenport, on the North Fork of Long Island.
