Parapsychology and Psychology: Research and Theory, November 1st and 2nd, Online and The 8th Annual Forever Family Foundation Afterlife Conference November 5th through 11th, Onsite in Durham, North Carolina Carlos S. Zingrone, Ph.D. PF Lyceum Blog #35 Posted October 15, 2014 Over the next month, two important conferences are being held in which PF former staff members, grant recipients and speakers will be presenting on various topics in which they are expert. Parapsychology and Psychology: Research and Theory, November 1st and 2nd, 2014 This first conference was organized by us. The original inspiration came from conversations we had with Lisette Coly, the President of the Parapsychology Foundation, back in the early 2000s when we were staff members. At the time we hoped to plan an onsite conference to be held at the Foundation’s Eileen J Garrett Library in Greenport out on Long Island that would be devoted to parapsychology and psychology. Years passed, fortunes changed, and the idea remained a dream. In recent years, though technology has changed quite a bit and it is now possible to pull together serious scholars, scientists and students in a virtual space. Because of Nancy’s long experience with the WizIQ Virtual Classroom, we decided we would try to bring together a few speakers, a good number of stand-alone PowerPoints from other scientists and researchers to serve as “Poster Sessions” and to present the lot in a virtual conference space. The live portion of the Parapsychology and Psychology online conference will take place on Saturday, November 1st between 8:00am and 3:00pm Eastern, and on Sunday, November 2nd between 8:30am and 4:00pm Eastern. We will give the introductory and closing presentations, including Carlos’s talk, Parapsychology and Psychology: An Overview. All the live lectures will be recorded and available for registrants within the virtual classroom, along with the Poster Presentations and discussions indefinitely.  Five individuals have agree to deliver the live presentations that are scheduled across the two days. Dr. Renaud Evrard, a French clinical psychologist—who was one of the recipients of the PF’s Eileen J. Garrett Scholarship in 2008 when he was still a student—will present Clinical Dimensions of Psychic Experiences.
 PF International Affiliate, Dr. Alejandro Parra, from the Open Interamerican University and the Institute for Paranormal Psychology (Argentina), will give a talk called Cognitive and Emotional Empathy in Relation to Five Paranormal/Anomalous Experiences.
 PF International Affiliate, Dr. Chris Roe, from the University of Northampton (England), will present ESP and Altered States of Consciousness.
 The recipient of the PF’s 2004 Frances P. Bolton Fellowship, Dr. Christine Simmonds-Moore, now a faculty member at the University of West Georgia (USA), will discuss her recent research in a talk called ESP and Synesthesia.
 Finally, Dr. Patrizio Tressoldi from the University of Padova (Italy) will present We Are All Psychics, but (Often) We Do Not Know How To.
In addition to these presentations, about a dozen stand-alone PowerPoints are already being uploaded to the virtual conference room, each of them covering another aspect of the relationship between parapsychology and psychology. A number of well-known individuals have contributed including Eberhard Bauer of the IGPP in Germany, Dr. Charles T. Tart who endowed the PF’s Tart Award for students, and the International Affiliates from Brazil, Drs. Wellington Zangari and Fátima R. Machado from the University of São Paulo, and their students. The 8th Annual Forever Family Afterlife Conference, November 5th through 11th, 2014  The Forever Family Foundation was set up to “further the understanding of Afterlife Science through research and education while providing support and healing for people in grief.” Their 8th Annual Afterlife Conference is being held this year in Durham, North Carolina from the 5th through 11th of November.
A variety of great events are taking places on Thursday and Friday, the 6th and 7th of November, and on Monday the 10th of November, with registration on the 5th, and check-out on the 11th. On the Saturday and Sunday, the 8th and 9th of November, the scientific portion of the program will be held. Called The Science of Survival of Consciousness: Changing World Views about the Afterlife, Presenters include:  Dr. Jim Tucker representing the Division of Perceptual Studies of the Department of Psychiatry and Neurobehavioral Sciences at the University of Virginia, who will give his talk Return to Life: Children’s Memories of Past Life;
 frequent Parapsychology Foundation guest speaker, Loyd Auerbach, representing the Forever Family Foundation, who will present Never Been Slimed: Recollections of a Real-Life “Ghostbuster”;
 Sally Rhine Feather, Ph.D. representing the Rhine Research Center, who will give her talk Continuing Psi Experiences Suggestive of an Afterlife;
 Callum Cooper, representing the Society for Psychical Research, who will present Telephone Contact with the Dead and other Unique Methods of After Death Communication;
 Carlos S. Alvarado, Ph.D., representing the Parapsychological Association, who will give his talk Seeing the Dead: Early Study of Deathbed Vision;
 Nancy L. Zingrone, Ph.D.,representing the Parapsychology Foundation, who will present Is There Anybody In There? Evidence for Survival from Hauntings and Apparitions Research;
 Julie Beischel, Ph.D., representing the Windbridge Institute for Applied Research in Human Potential, who will give her talk, Among Mediums: Results from 10 Years of Research.
